**Happy 1st Anniversary, ChessMates Ottawa!**
A big thank you to all the players, parents, and supporters who have been with us on this amazing journey. Over 2024, we:
-Organized **11 chess events**
-Donated over **$6,000** to charity organizations and local youth teams
-Provided **free introductory chess lessons** to more than 100 students
On Jan.25, 2025, we celebrated this milestone together! A huge shoutout to our incredible team members: **Derek, Vladimir, Justin, Sullivan, Aaron, and Lilian**—your dedication makes all of this possible.
We're looking to grow our team! If you're a high school student passionate about promoting chess and making a difference in the community, we’d love to have you join us. Let’s keep spreading the joy of chess together!

All About ChessMates Ottawa!
ChessMates Ottawa, a vibrant and dynamic chess club completely run by high school students from Merivale High School and Earl of March High School! Our mission is to inspire a new generation of chess players, fostering a love for the game and providing a supportive community where kids can develop their skills, make new friends, and enjoy the many benefits that chess has to offer.
While we do not have sponsorship, we are committed to giving back to the community. The proceeds from our tournaments are donated to local charity organizations and used to sponsor other youth programs. By participating in our events, you not only improve your chess skills but also contribute to meaningful causes!
